Chia Wonder Cereal

For anyone who has watched Dragon's Den, you may recognize 'Holy Crap' as one of the most successful business deals that's ever gone down on the show. Holy Crap is a breakfast cereal made of only a few natural ingredients. As you may confer from its name, the soluble and insoluble fibre content contributes to happy bowels. The only problem with Holy Crap is that it's holy expensive!!

Here is my recipe for a similar cereal with a few of my own additions. Once you have all the ingredients at hand, it is five minutes to make enough to last for weeks... and it costs one third the price of it's more famous predecessor.

Here is the recipe for Chia Wonder Cereal:

Mix together:

1 c. black chia seeds (can use ivory chia as well)
1/2 c. raw buckwheat groats
1/3 c. hemp seeds (aka hemp hearts)
2 tb. coconut flakes (optional)
1 tsp. cinnamon
couple pinches of Himalaya or Celtic sea salt
4 tb. dried blueberries (can use other dried fruit as well or instead of - apple, cranberry, raisins are all good)

Store this mixture in a light-tight container or bag. It will give you approximately 15 servings based on a 2 -3 heaping tablespoon serving.
When ready to eat, cover your serving with your favourite milk. Let sit for 4 minutes. Add fruit (I love pomegranate seeds, blueberries or mango on it), nuts or granola (my fav is grain-free JK Gourmet) and yogurt (or for those who are dairy-free, cultured coconut - Yoso is the best) or more milk.

2 heaping tablespoons provides: 87 calories, 11 g carbohydrate, 4 g. protein, 5 g. fat (mostly Omega 3), 5 g. fibre.

Enjoy!!
